Delivery truck driver
is responsible for safely operating a truck to transport goods from a distribution center to customers, following assigned routes and schedules, loading and unloading cargo, verifying delivery details, maintaining proper documentation, and providing excellent customer service by ensuring timely and accurate deliveries while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations; often requiring physical ability to lift and maneuver packages.
Key responsibilities may include:
Loading and unloading cargo: Properly securing and loading goods onto the truck at the warehouse and unloading them at designated delivery locations.
Following delivery routes: Navigating assigned routes efficiently to meet delivery deadlines.
Customer interaction: Communicating with customers to confirm delivery details, obtain signatures, and address any concerns.
Maintaining vehicle upkeep: Performing basic truck maintenance checks, reporting any mechanical issues, and keeping the vehicle clean.
Paperwork and documentation: Completing delivery receipts, logs, and other necessary paperwork.
Adhering to safety regulations: Complying with all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company safety policies.
Physical demands: Lifting and carrying packages, maneuvering pallets, and navigating different delivery environments.
Skills and qualifications:
Valid driver's license or a Commercial Driver’s License preferred but not required
Clean driving record
Strong navigational skills
