Key Responsibilities:
Precise Measurement and Layout: Accurately measure and mark out metal components on large sheets or sections using precision tools to ensure proper fit and alignment.
Cutting and Shaping: Utilize various cutting tools like torches, power saws, shears, and grinders to precisely cut metal pieces according to blueprints.
Component Assembly: Fit and assemble complex metal components together, ensuring proper alignment and tolerances using jigs, clamps, and other tooling.
Welding and Fabrication: May perform welding tasks to join components, depending on the specific role and company requirements.
Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality checks on fabricated assemblies to ensure they meet specifications and standards.
Blueprint Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to guide fabrication process.
Team Leadership: May lead and mentor less experienced fitters, assigning tasks and ensuring proper execution of work.
