Machine Shop Cleaner
is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of industrial machinery and surrounding work areas within a machine shop, primarily by removing grease, oil, metal debris, and other residues from machines, floors, and tools, while adhering to strict safety protocols and ensuring the overall workspace is clean and operational.
Key responsibilities may include:
Machine cleaning: Thoroughly cleaning all machinery including lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, etc., using appropriate cleaning solutions and tools to remove grease, oil, and metal chips.
Floor maintenance: Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors around machinery to remove debris and maintain cleanliness.
Tool cleaning: Cleaning and organizing machine shop tools, including cutting tools, to prevent rust and contamination.
Waste disposal: Properly collecting and disposing of hazardous materials like oil, coolant, and metal shavings according to safety regulations.
General cleaning: Cleaning common areas like restrooms, break rooms, and entryways as needed.
Inventory management: Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and notifying supervisors when supplies are low.
Safety compliance: Following all safety procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while cleaning.
Reporting issues: Identifying and reporting any malfunctioning machinery or potential safety hazards to maintenance personnel.
Required skills and qualifications:
Attention to detail: Ability to thoroughly clean machines and work areas, ensuring no areas are missed.
Physical stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy cleaning equipment and stand for extended periods.
